Recent MLB App/Website Bug:

Many of our users have been reaching out to us, concerned about encountering a recurring problem while attempting to stream MLB games.

They've reported an error message displayed at the top of their screens, indicating that the requested content cannot be launched.

To address this, we undertook a comprehensive investigation. We rigorously tested the streaming process within our office environment and across various international locations, aiming to replicate the reported issue. Despite an exhaustive review of our systems, no underlying problems on our end were identified.

After thorough scrutiny, we eventually managed to identify the core of the problem. MLB offers users the opportunity to access and view pre-played games, but they are also listing games that are yet-to-be-played. The issue predominantly arises when a user attempts to watch a game that hasn't yet taken place, but this distinction is not explicitly communicated to them. When users unknowingly endeavor to access these yet-to-be-played games, they are met with the aforementioned error message preventing playback.

Example:

You access the MLB website and you want to watch the replay of your teams game.

A new screen will pop up and the stream will start.

At the top right side of the screen, you will have the date of which the game was played on. Beside it, you will have all the games that have been played on that date and you can click them to watch them.

As long as the date of the game is prior to your current date, you will be able to watch the game without any issues.

If you click on the date tab of the games, a small calendar will launch, and you can then click on previous dates to watch the games that were played during those dates.

If you click on your current date, which in this case is the 25th of August, you will see that all the games available are listed as the free game of the day.

The page will just keep on loading but nothing will change, and the error message will appear on the top side of the screen.

If you look closely at the time of these games, you can see that although it's the same day as your current date, but the game hasn't started yet.

Thus you are experiencing this inconvenience.

So in order to not run into this issue, please make sure that the game you are trying to watch has been already played, by looking at the date and time of the game.
